Description |
This ladies Red Cross uniform is blue with wide white lapels and a Red Cross patch on the chest. It was worn by American Red Cross Canteen Volunteers during WW1. Women who volunteered sewed their own uniforms and head coverings, and often made uniform parts for servicemen as well. At the canteen, they provided food and beverages, and sometimes "wholesome" entertainment to troops passing through the region. |
