Description |
This is a Greek doll dressed in a traditional men's costume. The doll wears a blue felt vest (yeleko), white collared shirt (poukamiso), red tie, a blue vest (yeleko), yellow sash wrapped around the waist (zonari) with dots of color on the end, red felt trousers (vraka), white stockings (kaltses), and brown leather shoes (tsarouhia). The doll also wears a knit hat with a bobble on the end. This could be related to the Portuguese fisherman cap. The face is painted and blushed pink. The doll holds a small guitar-like instrument in their left hand with only two strings, possibly a Portuguese cavaquinho. There are two types of male Greek dress, with a kilt/skirt called a foustanella and with trousers called vraka. |
