Description |
This is an empty 10 fluid oz green glass bottle for Mountain Dew (beverage) from the 1960s with both English and French text. It features an applied color label (ACL) of the "hillbilly" figure in red and white that was prevalent in the Mountain Dew marketing until the 1970s. The shoeless "hillbilly" is pointing a rifle at a figure fleeing towards an outhouse on one side of the bottle. Next to the figure is a box reading: "Fabriqué tout spécialement pour les petits, les moyens et les grands!" (This translates to: "Made especially for the little ones, the medium ones, and the big ones!" This is likely means being made for all ages.) Interestingly, this text is completely different than what is found opposite side of the bottle in English: "Made from Flavors Specially Blended in the Traditional Hillbilly Style." The bottle was filled by two employees by the names of René and Yvette. Towards the neck, the bottle depicts a red and white "Willy the Hillbilly" logo of a "hillbilly" having a hole shot through his hat by the cork of a bottle shaped like a moonshine jug. On one side, beneath Willy, it reads: "It'll tickle yore [sic] innards!" The other side reads: "Un bon p'tit boire!" (This translates to: A good little drink!") There are white dots between the two instances of the logo. |
