Description |
This olive drab military jacket is likely part of a WWI Navy uniform. The inner tag reads: "Heiberger / Washington, D.C." The jacket has the rainbow grosgrain ribbon bar that accompanies the WWI Victory Medal. It has one star pinned on it. On each side of the collar, there is a Navy Medical device pair which display a caduceus and anchor. The is also a metal "U.S" device pair, one on each side. There is a golden oak leaf pin on each shoulder, indicating rank of Lieutenant Commander (of the Navy or Coast Guard, if another branch, it would be Major). There is one patch on the lower left arm, which depicts two chevrons pointing downward. This also indicates the uniform is from WWI and the wearer served one year overseas, one chevron for every six months. These chevrons are called Overseas Service Bars. The inside of a sleeve reads "7918" in ink. A white collar is haphazardly sewn on to the inside of the outer collar. The fabric appears to be gabardine wool. The uniform owner is one "Dr. Lucas." |
