Artist: A hand-drawn diagram of a pair of lungs, printed using gum bichromate, embellished with acrylic gold paint and gold leaf. From an ethereal cloud-like watercolor background, stitching emerges and flows in/out of the "throat" of the lungs. I already lived with pleurisy -- or pain/inflammation of the lungs. While this piece is specifically about my experience with that intermittent/everyday pain, it overlaps with the detailed medical concerns about our ability to breathe when infected with COVID-19, and how that disease specifically affects the lungs. |
