This art piece was part of the Exceptional Child Exhibition at the Reece Museum in 1968. This is a black and white copy of the original print printed on photo paper. It depicts a person kneeling with cross-shaped gravestones behind them. A prayer or poem in English is printed above, beside, and below the figure. The text is a variation of a Eleanor Roosevelt's wartime prayer that she kept in her wallet throughout WWII and after. The art piece reads: A Soldier's Prayer O Lord, lest I go My complacent way Help me to remember that Somewhere out there- A man died for me today As long as there be war I must ask and answer Am I worth dying for? |
