Description |
This is an Edwardian lingerie blouse or shirtwaist with a high collar. It is made of white cotton lawn with lace insertion. The high collar is held upwards with wavy wrapped wire attached vertically along several points on the inside. The blouse has white buttons down the back and sets of vertical pintucks. The fabric is gathered at the waist. The front botton edge of the blouse comes down in a "V" shape in the center, as the popular "pouter pigeon shape" of the bust during this time period. Above the chest, there are embroidered floral elements. The neck is made of strips of lace and the sleeves and body of the blouse are divided into sections separated by the same lace. |
