Description |
This small needlework features the words "The Union Forever" embroidered on a card with the hand-written note "for pappa" at the bottom. Half of the "h" in "The" and the entire "e" are missing. The lower half of the "f" is also missing. The lettering appears to be a dark gray or purple, and it is surrounded by red dots. The border is light gray and red angled stripes. Mementos like these were often carried in the bibles of soldiers serving during the Civil War, and it illustrates the connection of many Johnson City residents to the Union. |
