Description |
This quilt depicts a multi-color starburst design. The pattern is called "Red Border Star" or "Broken Star." It is inferred to have been crafted circa 1935. The quilt's details were constructed using hand-pieced and hand-quilted techniques. The quilt features vivid shades of red, deep blue, and orange, with red stripes. The central image of this quilt is a large pieced star (58" x 59") with sixteen points. The star is set with solid white setting triangles and setting squares to make the four sides finish off as a straight edge. The quilt features diagonal lines of hand-quilted pieces down each side of each diamond within the central star. Crosshatch quilting is positioned in 1.25" separated lines across the surface. Four petal tulips are in the setting squares. Chained diamonds are quilted in the four border areas. |
