"God Loves You Be My Valentine" is a multi-dimensional painted sculpture by R. A. Miller. The sculpture features two thin, painted metal elements that are positioned upright/vertically within a painted and decorated rectangular wooden base. The metal fixture on the left side is a painted angel, which was a common motif of Miller's. This angel is facing forward. It began with a white painted base which is visible on the face. Minimal black designs compose the angel's hair, eyes, and mouth. Two black, pointed wings protrude from the angel's shoulders. The angel's torso is painted blue and the angel's lower half is painted red. The metal fixture on the right side is a painted heart symbol that resembles a Valentine heart. The heart is painted pink and featured green and red scalloped loops along the top portion. "BE MINE 4 EVER" is painted in the center of the heart, and each letter is a different color, providing a burst of color. Both of the upper rounded corners of the heart feature the word "love" (the left "love" is in white and the right "love" is in blue), and "you" is painted in light blue along the bottom corner of the heart. The metal fixtures are positioned within a rectangular block of wood that has been painted white. Colorful text and images are painted on top of the white paint, including "BE MY VALENTINE" on the front of the block in a variety of colors. When viewing the block from above, other painted images include colorful hearts on the back side and the words "God Loves You" on the front side, just above the "BE MY VALENTINE," in a similar variety of bright, playful colors. "RAMILLER" is written on the back of the block in gold. |
